Upon arrival in Kigali, meet your professional safari guide for a briefing before departing for Volcanoes National Park. If time allows, enjoy an optional city tour featuring the Kigali Genocide Memorial, local craft markets, and cultural landmarks before traveling through Rwanda’s beautiful countryside, known as the “Land of a Thousand Hills.”
Admire rolling green hills, terraced farms, and spectacular mountain scenery before arriving at your lodge near Volcanoes National Park, where you can relax and prepare for the unforgettable gorilla trekking adventure ahead.
After an early breakfast, transfer to the Kinigi Park Headquarters for a briefing by Rwanda Development Board ranger guides before beginning your gorilla trekking adventure. Trek through bamboo forests and the lush volcanic slopes of Volcanoes National Park in search of one of the park’s habituated gorilla families.
Depending on their location, the trek may take between two and six hours before rewarding you with a magical one-hour encounter observing these magnificent primates in their natural habitat. After this once-in-a-lifetime experience, return to your lodge to relax and enjoy the spectacular scenery of the Virunga Mountains.
Following breakfast, choose between an exciting Golden Monkey Trek through the bamboo forests of Volcanoes National Park or a cultural visit to the Gorilla Guardians Village, where you’ll experience traditional Rwandan music, dance, storytelling, and local customs.
After your morning activity, begin the scenic drive back to Kigali, arriving in the afternoon for transfer to your hotel or Kigali International Airport, marking the end of your unforgettable Rwandan gorilla safari.
