Safari Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Entebbe – Welcome to Uganda
Upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport, meet your professional safari guide and transfer to your hotel overlooking Lake Victoria. Depending on your arrival time, enjoy a relaxing walk along the lakeshore or visit the Entebbe Botanical Gardens before receiving a comprehensive safari briefing.
Day 2: Entebbe – Kibale Forest National Park
Travel west through Uganda’s beautiful countryside toward Kibale Forest National Park. Pass traditional villages, tea plantations, and the foothills of the Rwenzori Mountains while learning about the customs and lifestyles of western Uganda’s communities.
Day 3: Chimpanzee Trekking & Bigodi Community Experience
Spend the morning tracking wild chimpanzees in Kibale Forest before visiting the Bigodi Community, where local guides introduce you to traditional farming practices, herbal medicine, basket weaving, and village life.
Day 4: Queen Elizabeth National Park – Katwe Salt Lake Community
Drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park for wildlife viewing before visiting the historic Katwe Salt Mining Community. Learn how salt has been traditionally harvested for centuries and meet local miners whose livelihoods depend on this unique natural resource.
Day 5: Bwindi Impenetrable National Park – Batwa Cultural Experience
Travel through the Ishasha sector, searching for tree-climbing lions before arriving in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.
In the afternoon, visit the Batwa Community, one of Africa’s oldest indigenous forest peoples. Learn about their traditional hunting techniques, medicinal plants, music, dances, and how they lived harmoniously within the rainforest before the creation of the national park.
Day 6: Gorilla Trekking
Embark on an unforgettable gorilla trekking experience through Bwindi’s ancient rainforest. Spend one magical hour observing a habituated gorilla family before returning to your lodge.
Day 7: Bwindi – Kigali, Rwanda
Cross into Rwanda and journey to Kigali. Visit the Kigali Genocide Memorial before exploring local artisan cooperatives producing traditional baskets, pottery, and handcrafted souvenirs.
Day 8: Kigali Cultural Tour – Akagera National Park
Spend the morning exploring Rwanda’s vibrant culture through local markets, art galleries, and the Campaign Against Genocide Museum before travelling to Akagera National Park for an evening game drive.
Day 9: Akagera Safari – Nairobi, Kenya
Enjoy a sunrise game drive followed by a boat safari on Lake Ihema before flying to Nairobi.
Upon arrival, enjoy dinner at a traditional Kenyan restaurant featuring live cultural performances representing numerous Kenyan communities.
Day 10: Nairobi – Maasai Village – Masai Mara
Travel to the legendary Masai Mara with a stop at a traditional Maasai Manyatta. Meet Maasai elders and warriors while learning about their pastoral lifestyle, ceremonies, livestock traditions, architecture, beadwork, and community values.
Continue to the Masai Mara for an afternoon game drive.
Day 11: Full-Day Masai Mara Safari
Spend the day searching for the Big Five while enjoying a picnic lunch near the Mara River. In the evening, participate in storytelling around a traditional campfire as Maasai guides share ancient legends and customs.
Day 12: Masai Mara – Lake Naivasha
Travel to Lake Naivasha for a scenic boat cruise among hippos and birdlife before visiting a nearby flower farm or local fishing community to learn about livelihoods around Kenya’s freshwater lakes.
Day 13: Lake Naivasha – Arusha, Tanzania
Cross into Tanzania and continue to Arusha, often referred to as Tanzania’s safari capital. Visit a local cultural heritage centre showcasing over 120 Tanzanian ethnic groups through art, carvings, gemstones, textiles, and traditional architecture.
Day 14: Lake Eyasi – Hadzabe & Datoga Tribes
Travel to Lake Eyasi for one of East Africa’s most authentic cultural experiences. Spend time with the Hadzabe Bushmen, one of the continent’s last remaining hunter-gatherer communities. Learn traditional hunting techniques, fire-making skills, and ancient survival practices.
Later, visit the neighboring Datoga Tribe, renowned for blacksmithing, beadwork, leather craftsmanship, and pastoral traditions.
Day 15: Ngorongoro Crater Safari
Descend into the magnificent Ngorongoro Crater in search of the Big Five while admiring one of Africa’s most spectacular natural landscapes.
Day 16: Serengeti National Park
Spend the day exploring the endless plains of the Serengeti while searching for lions, elephants, cheetahs, giraffes, wildebeests, and countless other wildlife species.
Day 17: Tarangire National Park
Explore Tarangire National Park, famous for its giant baobab trees and large elephant herds. Visit a nearby village where local farmers demonstrate traditional agricultural practices and explain their relationship with wildlife conservation.
Day 18: Arusha – Departure
Following breakfast, transfer to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your onward flight, bringing your remarkable East African cultural and wildlife expedition to an unforgettable conclusion.
