Day 1: Kampala – Bwindi Impenetrable National Park (Kisoro/Buhoma Sector)
Your adventure begins with an early morning pick-up from your hotel or residence in Kampala after a comprehensive safari briefing from your guide. You will embark on a scenic drive southwest through Uganda’s rolling hills, lush countryside, and vibrant local communities.
Along the way, you’ll enjoy a lunch stop at a selected restaurant before continuing toward Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site renowned for its incredible biodiversity and endangered mountain gorillas.
Upon arrival in the Kisoro or Buhoma area, check in at your chosen lodge, relax, enjoy dinner, and prepare for the unforgettable gorilla trekking experience awaiting you the next day.
Day 2: Gorilla Trekking Experience in Bwindi
Wake up early for breakfast before heading to the Uganda Wildlife Authority headquarters for a briefing by experienced park rangers. Here you’ll learn about gorilla trekking etiquette, safety guidelines, and the fascinating behavior of mountain gorillas.
You will then be assigned to one of the habituated gorilla families and begin your trek through the dense rainforest. Depending on the location of the gorillas, the trek may take anywhere between 2 and 8 hours, traversing rugged terrain, steep hills, and thick vegetation.
The highlight of the day is spending a magical one hour in the presence of a mountain gorilla family. Watching these gentle giants interact, feed, and care for one another in their natural habitat is an extraordinary wildlife encounter that few experiences can match.
After your trek, return to the lodge to relax, share stories of the day’s adventure, enjoy dinner, and spend another peaceful night surrounded by the forest.
Day 3: Return to Kampala via the Equator
After breakfast, check out of your lodge and begin your return journey to Kampala. En route, stop at the Uganda Equator for memorable photographs, shopping for local crafts, and an opportunity to witness simple demonstrations showing the unique effects of the Earth’s hemispheres.
After lunch, continue to Kampala, arriving in the evening, where you will be dropped off at your hotel or preferred location, marking the end of your unforgettable gorilla trekking safari.
